EDUCATION:
Graduation with a Masters degree from a recognized university with specialization in political science, international relations or history.

YOUR CHALLENGE:
Support for senior government decision makers, including the Prime Minister, Ministers and officials of PCO, FAC and other departments, through policy-neutral assessments of foreign political, economic, strategic and security issues concerning Iraq and North Africa, hereafter characterized as "the assigned area." Support for the Canadian intelligence community, through coordination of inter-departmental assessment activities in support of the Intelligence Assessment Committee (IAC) and through coordination with allied intelligence assessment agencies. Contribution to development of IAS strategies and policies for assessment sharing, marketing and client services, and planning and coordination activities.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in researching a wide range of primary sources of information on developments concerning Iraq and North Africa, hereafter characterized as "the assigned area." and producing analysis in that area.

Experience as an active participant in policy, research or analytical meetings on issues related to the assigned area.

Experience in preparing, presenting and defending effectively oral and written positions.

Experience working or travelling in Iraq or North Africa.

INFORMATION TO BE PROVIDED:
When you apply, you must provide the following information or your application will be rejected:
 
  • Your resumé.
  • In 300 words (maximum) "You are requested to submit a list of the titles and other pertinent information (date and place of publication for published articles, academic institution, course and date for academic papers, etc.) of two to four pieces of written analysis that you have prepared. This may be a journal article, academic paper or other analysis. These pieces of analysis must deal with issues related to the assigned area: at least one must deal with Iraq and one must deal with North Africa. You should indicate whether the papers are entirely your own work or the degree to which others (editor, co-author, etc.) contributed. You will be asked to provide copies of these papers. This information will be used as part of the evaluation of your abilities."
